{"id":584,"date":"2013-07-13T19:02:45","date_gmt":"2013-07-13T23:02:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/makelehighvalley.com\/blog\/?p=584"},"modified":"2013-07-17T23:55:12","modified_gmt":"2013-07-18T03:55:12","slug":"world-maker-faire-nyc-2013-with-make-lehigh-valley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/makelehighvalley.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/world-maker-faire-nyc-2013-with-make-lehigh-valley\/","title":{"rendered":"World Maker Faire NYC 2013 with Make Lehigh Valley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have a <em>luxury<\/em> bus for the 2nd annual Make Lehigh Valley trip to the <a href=\"http:\/\/makerfaire.com\/new-york-2013\/\">World Maker Faire NYC<\/a>\u00a0on September 21st!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Part science fair part county fair&#8230;<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8230;last year they had workshops, dozens of 3D printers of all shapes and sizes, concerts with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Theremin\">theremins<\/a>, presentations, quad-copters, sales on all sorts of electronics kits, organic crafts, light shows, flying objects, giant 20&#8242; butterflies you could ride around in, the New York Hall of Science is included, and <em>so<\/em> much more. \u00a0Good luck seeing it all!<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wepay.com\/events\/world-maker-faire-nyc-2013\">Get a ride with us and get in on a 25% group discount for entry tickets<\/a>!<\/strong><br \/>\nAdditionally, <strong>if the bus fills up we will be able to do a rebate<\/strong> for the bus ride up to $10 per passenger.<\/p>\n<p>Taking a bus is a great way to meet and hang out with a bunch of other makers and a real easy trip into New York City. \u00a0The bus will drop us off and pick us up right at the front gate of the faire.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re leaving at 9am from the Da Vinci Science Center parking lot in Allentown. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davincisciencecenter.org\/inside-dsc\/visitor-information\/maps-and-directions\/\">Directions to the Science Center<\/a>\u00a0can be found on their website.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"wepay_widget_anchor_5054943422278\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wepay.com\/events\/world-maker-faire-nyc-2013\">Get an entry ticket and a seat on the bus<\/a>\u00a0from our WePay page. \u00a0If you&#8217;ve already purchased a ticket, you can still ride with us, just be sure to select the appropriate ride ticket. \u00a0You can also pay by cash or check at the Space, but <a href=\"mailto:\/\/makelehighvalley@makelehighvalley.com\">email us<\/a> to let us know as it is first come first serve.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Maker Faire is primarily designed to be forward-looking, showcasing makers who are exploring new forms and new technologies. But it\u2019s not just for the novel in technical fields; Maker Faire features innovation and experimentation across the spectrum of science, engineering, art, performance and craft.<\/p>\n<p>Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. It\u2019s a venue for makers to show examples of their work and interact with others about it. Many makers say they have no other place to share what they do.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Do_it_yourself\">DIY<\/a>\u00a0(Do-It-Yourself) is often invisible in our communities, taking place in shops, garages and on kitchen tables. It\u2019s typically out of the spotlight of traditional art or science or craft events.
