[MakeLV] New to the list

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the Make: Lehigh Valley.  There are only a few of us so far, but
I am working on a grant to expand the group and to outfit the space at the
BridgeWorks with tools.  I work at the Da Vinci Science Center, doing
teacher professional development and grantwriting.  The hackerspace grant is
going in to the National Science Foundation in their Informal Science
Education program and we are proposing a five year program to increase
access to tinkering and hacking for both youth and adults.  There would be
both structured and unstructured programs, and a full-time facilitator
during the run of the grant.  We have cleared the first hurdle and gotten
positive reviews of our pre-proposal, but this is still a very competitive
program.

As for my background, I am a geologist by training with 13 years experience,
mostly as a university faculty member before coming to the science center 8
years ago (when we were still on the South Side of Bethlehem).  My hacking
and tinkering experience is limited, but growing (just did my first Arduino
project for Halloween - you can see it on Facebook, but you'll have to
friend me - look me up via this email as my name is too common).  I look
forward to meeting and working with you and with everyone else interested in
promoting making in the Lehigh Valley
