[MakeLV] Meeting minutes - 5/12/11

Attendance: 7

AEDC:
- Indiemade poster day went well. Posters will be used for the Indiemade
craft market taking place in Bethlehem June 11th.
- Tech nights are being held in the workspace. Two have occurred, next one
is June 7th @6:30PM. Someone will be presenting on what it takes to start a
business (contact Matthew for more info).
- Lathe/Mill
   + SSM did calculations for how much load the floor could handle.
   + They are coming back to re-measure some things tomorrow.
   + Should have an answer by end of the week.
   + If okay, the lathe and mill could then be moved into the area.
   + Matthew will speak with someone who works in AEDC's buildings about
giving a workshop on the mill.
- Matthew recommended that for insurance purposes we begin to finalize our
charter and bylaws.

New items for MakeLV:
- Open hack nights! 2nd Tuesday of each month and 4th Thursday. 6:30-9:30
(hard stop at 10PM).
   + Bring your tools and a project to work on! (or come tear apart old
printers/computers).
   + Some lockers are available in the work space for storage.
   + Looking for: More workbenches (someone had said they had access to
spares before).
   + Looking for: Old couches (Josiah indicated some people may want to
sit).
   + Looking for: Small parts storage (egg cartons or tackle boxes).
   + By laws and charter need to be finalized before this can take place.
- Charter and by laws
   + Please review charter on the website.
   + By laws will need to be drafted so we can open for comments late next
week.
   + Vote via mailing list tentatively starts the 20th.
- Website will move to blog front page with wiki linked off it.
- YouTube channel will be setup for MakeLV.
- Plan to do "What's in the box?" presentation nights quarterly featuring a
"Best Of" from the open hack nights.
- Suggested way to advertise events is to stuff inserts into related
magazines at book stores.

Past events:
- Pinhole camera workshop was a success. It took more time than planned but
results were great. At least 7 others turned out for the workshop.

Upcoming events - MakeLV:
- Open hack night 1: May 23rd 6:30-9:30PM
- Open hack night 2: June 14th 6:30-9:30PM
- TBD - MakeLV grill build and cookout.

Upcoming events - Other:
- Mid-Atlantic retro computing is holding a festival this weekend, more info
to follow via mailing list - Vintage.org
- LVLug has a meeting this Saturday.
- Indiemade craft market June 11th
