Hi MLV,

 

I'm pretty excited this exists!  It took a friend from CA to point out your
site - makes me feel like it was right under my nose the whole time.  I'm a
network engineer by trade and a maker by night.  I saw a presentation on
Hackerspaces at The Last HOPE (2008) by NYC Resistor and since then have
just been fascinated with the idea.  I have been trying to get involved with
AlphaOneLabs (also NYC) but the trip is tough to fit into my schedule and it
really never works out.

 

I have background & experience in a little of everything (networks/security,
electronics, code, mechanical, audio, botany) though am by no means an
expert in any of it.  A friend of mine would also be interested.  How open
is the group to people just showing up at an event?  We'll keep an eye on
the calendar.
