First think first,

Dave, absolutely bring your microwave.

Microwave = fan motor, turntable motor, control board with display, ( display always a plus), for parts reclamation,
door micro switches, high voltage power diode, high voltage capacitor and transformer and metal enclosure suitable

for processes involving temperature extremes, hot and cold, not necessarily making use of microwave power.

Soldering class:

I checked out 'The Hacktory's website and 'NYC Resistor' to see how they were handling classes.

I liked The Hacktory's approach of developing a list of people who're interested in attending,

and then scheduling a class. In addition their site allowed visitors a chance to suggest classes.
It seems to me this is the point where we're at, it would give us a better chance to plan what resources we'll need.

In my opinion, NYC Resistor has a bigger base of participants to draw from and more experience.
This link is to their next soldering class,

I think our class would start with some de-soldering, to get accustomed to the iron,
followed by assembly of something to take home. I think we need something more than LEDs on a board.
