Hi, I've grown up in Allentown I went to William Allen high school and
have been an avid follower of 2600 the hacker quarterly since around
eighth grade in middle school. I'll be trying to go back to school
part time to finish up my IST degree from Penn state. So basically I'm
working to try and be a professional computer geek. I've visited the
hacktory in Philadelphia and thought the whole concept of a
hackerspace to be really awesome. I was ecstatic when I found out that
some people have started up a hackerspace in allentown. I'd like to be
involved in some fashion with makelehighvalley if I can. For the
moment I don't have good constant Internet access or transportation.
I'm interested in many technological fields though. I have a friend up
at Penn State main campus who would be willing to teach me how to do
reprap and I could probably eventually get a machine thorugh him for
the makelv if the group was interested in it. I'm also interested in
learning arduino. I'd love to learn how to make an arduino
quadracopter if it was possible or if anyone else has an interest in
it. Even better if I could eventually reprap out parts for one:) I'm
also interested in augmented realty applications, and even though I
have little experience in making anything functional, I know some of
the theory behind it. I've had experience with html javascript c++
java php and a few other languages but although I can read programming
code. I've never really become very good at actually programming
anything. I'd like to change that someday if I could but I know that
it will be a hard learning process. I hope to make it out to a meeting
one of these Thursdays, if I can, to meet some of the other hackers in
the area and try to get involved with something. Also I have some old
fishertecknik equipment I thought might make a good donation to the
space to see if anyone can make anything out of it. (It's mostly a
bunch of air pumps and some logic boards but could potentially be used
for a cool project.) If anyone wants to talk my cell number is 610 739
7635. Thanks for existing!
