[MakeLV] Tool Auction Sat June 16th, Near Trexler Nature Preserve

Clinton gave me $100 to spend! I really didn't have a plan as how much I
was going to spend since I've never been to this kind of auction...

$19.25 Scroll Saw
$3.30 Jigsaw
$1.10 Slide Carosel & Stuff
$2.20 Three folding chairs
$3.30 Shelf + several boxes of misc. stuff
$5.50 Several boxes of misc. stuff
$20.00 Miter Saw (actually from a yard sale on my way home)
-----------
$54.15 Total

There is a tool auction right down the street from me (at or next to 2165 E
Scenic Drive, Bath, PA) this coming Saturday, so we'll see how that goes
too.

I should have bid again on the Dremel as it went for only $30 (I think the
guy would have kept bidding higher though).
The miter saw at the auction went for $55, but was newer. So, that was a
toss up. I was also busy dropping off the scroll saw so I missed it.
The drill press seemed a lot like ours and surprisingly went for over $160.
There were a couple misc boxes of tool stuff that went for only a couple
bucks, but you had to know they were there. It was a bid to get first pick
of what box(es) you wanted.

This was no Sotheby's auction... it was an estate liquidation (overheard
rumors of the wife & husband guilty of embezzlement). There was a lot of
junk, but the junk went for very cheap. There were in fact two auctioneers
going at the same time and thus impossible to really follow both. Both
because of the multiple auctioneers and the type of auction, I can't
emphasize how helpful it would have been to get there earlier and really
dig through the stuff. One auctioneer went down the lines of mostly junk
with bidders huddled around bidding for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. pick until
everyone would stop outbidding anyone else and just pick what they wanted
for $1/box, then the remaining boxes went all together when nobody would
pay even $1/box. The other auctioneer semi-randomly skipped around selling
the more expensive items. We left around 1, and there was still a few
tables of stuff, lots of misc stuff inside, and furniture to go. There
were some more tools inside the house, but I don't think it was worth
waiting for, except maybe the tool chest, but there was no way I could fit
it in my car with any of the other items I bought (maybe even note at
all). It was very helpful to have Chris there as he could watch the stuff
while I tried to follow the auctioneers.
