Cool thanks ..... been thinking about it more and parallax is probably way to go ... <br><br>A laser point and then two cameras to used to calculate the position of the point (I'm thinking Wii-motes ) .... at that point it's all basic trigonometry.<br>

<br>All that would be mounted on a suspended turntable ....as the table rotates  the ranging head would either move up and down on a rail or the head would pivot (sweep) up and down ... but that just complicates the math more <br>

Has anyone seen any info on what they used for the 3D scanner ?? .... I've always had a couple of concepts in my head with laser pointers as range finders etc .... put the speed of light makes the tolerances a bit tricky :)<br>

I've not seen Adafruit's. I've been using the sparkfun tutorials which have been amazing. Their part library is also very very helpful.<br>

The makerbot on Colbert was great. Have you seen thingiverse this week? After the show many derived works with his head were posted.<br>
